Why Did Anthropic Extend It?

Where Fable 5 genuinely pulls ahead is the heavy stuff: very long documents (it has a 1-million-token context window, which can swallow entire books), complex multi-step coding projects, and long research or analysis tasks where the model works through many stages on its own. If your work involves any of that, these five free days are actually valuable.

How to Make the Most of the Next 5 Days

Don’t waste the window asking it to write WhatsApp messages. Give it the big jobs:

  • Feed it your longest documents. Contracts, research papers, entire project codebases — things that choke smaller models.
  • Run your hardest problem. That analysis or plan you’ve been postponing because it felt too big? This week is the time.
  • Build something reusable. Use Fable 5 to create templates, workflows, or detailed plans you’ll keep using after the window closes. The output is yours forever, even when the model isn’t.
  • Compare it yourself. Run the same task on Fable 5 and another model. You’ll know from your own experience — not marketing claims — whether the premium is worth it for your work.

And a practical tip: Fable 5 usually has to be manually selected in the model picker — it’s not the default. Check which model you’re actually talking to before you start a big task.
