Big Billion Days 2026: Buy Your Phone Now or Wait for the Sale?
Big Billion Days 2026 starts on 9 October, and Amazon’s Great Indian Festival starts a day earlier, on 8 October. Both dates are now confirmed.
Here is what almost nobody has noticed: the GST Council meets on 7 October — the day before Amazon’s sale opens — and the phone industry has asked it to cut GST on phones from 18% to 5%.
So if you are planning to buy a phone this festive season, three dates in a row decide what you pay. Here is what is confirmed, what the bank offers are really worth, and whether you should buy now or wait.

Big Billion Days 2026 and Amazon sale dates
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| 7 October | 57th GST Council meeting |
| 8 October | Amazon Great Indian Festival starts Big Billion Days early access for Flipkart Plus, Black and Flipkart credit card holders |
| 9 October | Big Billion Days 2026 opens to everyone |
Neither Flipkart nor Amazon has published an end date yet. Historically both run for around a week, and the deepest phone prices tend to land in the first 48 hours.
Big Billion Days 2026 bank offers
Flipkart has confirmed:
- 10% instant discount on Axis Bank and ICICI Bank cards
- 10% savings on the Flipkart Axis Bank credit card
- 10% cashback on your first transaction with super.money
- UPI payments through BHIM, CRED and Paytm
The Big Billion Days 2026 deal formats are the usual ones — Price Crash, Tick Tock Deals, Brand Hours, Double Discount and Rush Hours. Samsung Galaxy is the headline sponsor, so expect Galaxy phones to be pushed hard.
Amazon Great Indian Festival bank offers
Amazon has confirmed:
- 10% instant discount on SBI credit and debit cards, including SBI EMI transactions
- Up to 10% extra for Prime members
That makes the choice between the two sales mostly a question of which bank card is in your wallet. If you have SBI, Amazon. If you have Axis or ICICI, Flipkart. If you have neither, compare the listed prices — the headline discounts assume you have the right card.
Big Billion Days 2026 and the GST question
On 2 September the India Cellular and Electronics Association asked the Finance Minister to cut GST on mobile phones from 18% to 5%. That would make every phone about 11% cheaper. The GST Council meets on 7 October.
It is tempting to think you should hold off until after that meeting. Here is why that probably does not change much for Big Billion Days 2026:
A cut is not on the published agenda. The listed items for the 7 October meeting are registration, input tax credit, refunds and compliance. A phone rate change may be discussed, but nothing says it will be.
Even if it passes, it will not apply on 8 October. Tax changes take effect from a notified date, usually weeks later. Sale prices on 8 and 9 October will be at 18% GST either way.
A 10% bank offer that exists beats an 11% tax cut that might. The discount is roughly the same size, and one of them is guaranteed.
The one case for waiting: you are buying something expensive, you have no matching bank card, and you are happy to wait into November to see whether a GST cut actually materialises.
Phones to watch in Big Billion Days 2026
No specific Big Billion Days 2026 deal prices have been published yet — both retailers say “revealing soon.” But based on what is on sale now, these are the ones worth tracking:
POCO M8 Power 5G (₹24,999). It is a Flipkart exclusive, and Flipkart exclusives get their deepest cuts during Big Billion Days. An 8,000mAh battery phone that dips close to ₹20,000 would be a genuinely strong buy. Our POCO M8 Power 5G breakdown covers whether it is worth it at full price.
Galaxy S26 FE (₹79,999). Samsung is sponsoring Big Billion Days 2026, and this phone launched at ₹14,000 more than last year’s model. It is the likeliest candidate for a big headline cut. Here is what it offers at launch price.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra (from ₹1,94,999). Already carrying a ₹5,000 price drop. Foldables often see their best prices of the year during these sales. Current prices and offers are here.
Last year’s iPhones. Older iPhones historically hit their lowest Indian prices during these sales. The new iPhone 18 Pro is unlikely to see meaningful discounts this soon after launch.
Anything under ₹20,000. This segment has been squeezed hardest by 2026’s price rises. A sale is the best chance to buy back into it. Start with our best phone under 20000 guide so you know which models are worth it before the prices start moving.
How to actually get the best price
Check the price now. Screenshot the current price of the phone you want today. “Sale prices” are sometimes barely lower than normal prices, and occasionally higher. Without a reference you cannot tell.
Read the bank offer cap. A “10% instant discount” almost always has a maximum per card. On a ₹80,000 phone, 10% is ₹8,000 — but the cap may be much lower. Check the terms on the listing, not the banner.
Use Big Billion Days 2026 early access if you have it. Popular deals sell out in the first hours. Flipkart Plus, Black and Flipkart credit card holders get 24 hours’ head start on 8 October.
Stack carefully. Exchange offers, bank discounts and sale prices can sometimes be combined, sometimes not. The final checkout price is the only number that matters.
The Honest Fine Print
No phone deal prices have been confirmed. Everything above about specific models is based on what is currently on sale and how past sales have behaved. Real prices appear closer to the sale.
“Up to 10% extra for Prime” is “up to”. It will not apply to every product, and it may not apply to phones at all.
Bank discounts are not for everyone. If you do not hold an SBI, Axis or ICICI card, most of the headline savings do not apply to you.
End dates are not published. Neither retailer has said when Big Billion Days 2026 or the Great Indian Festival will close.
The GST outcome is genuinely unknown. A cut could be approved, deferred, referred to a committee or not discussed. We will update this post after 7 October.
Bottom Line
Big Billion Days 2026 opens on 9 October, with early access on 8 October. Amazon’s Great Indian Festival also starts on 8 October. The GST Council meets on 7 October.
If you need a phone in the next month, plan to buy in the sale with whichever bank card you have — SBI for Amazon, Axis or ICICI for Flipkart. The 10% bank discount is real and roughly equal to what a GST cut would give you, and it arrives first.
Screenshot today’s price, check the bank offer cap, and do not let a sale banner make the decision for you.
